Navigating Social Media in the Scaffolding Industry
Professionalism at every height, on every platform.
Building strong foundations, online and on-site.
13 May 2026
At KAS Scaffolding, we believe that the high standards we maintain on-site should be reflected in the professionalism we display online. The National Access & Scaffolding Confederation (NASC) has outlined clear expectations in their December 2025 Social Media and General Media Policy.
This policy applies to all NASC members, including contractors, suppliers, and any individuals publicly associated with the NASC and CISRS. Whether you are posting on LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or a company blog, your online activity must reflect the values and integrity of our company and the wider access industry.
To ensure we maintain a positive industry culture, here is our essential guide to the dos and don'ts of social media for the scaffolding sector.
The Dos: Acceptable Use and Positive Engagement
NASC encourages members to use social and general media as a tool for positive engagement. When representing yourself as part of KAS Scaffolding or the wider industry, keep these best practices in mind
DO promote excellence: Use your platforms to highlight good practice, safety, and innovation within the scaffolding sector.
DO celebrate our people: Share team achievements, professional milestones, and offer well-wishes for cultural, national, or international observances.
DO support the community: Use your voice to highlight charitable initiatives, community engagement, and relevant industry events.
DO contribute constructively: Share your knowledge and experience in industry discussions, ensuring your tone remains accurate, respectful, and professional.
The Don'ts: Unacceptable Use
NASC members are expected to exercise discretion online and avoid any material that could bring the scaffolding industry or our organization into disrepute. You must not publish, share, or endorse any content that violates the following rules:
DON'T post hateful or abusive content: This strictly prohibits hate speech (as defined by the Public Order Act 1986), discrimination, and harassment.
DON'T share extremist views: Avoid promoting or associating with violent, extremist, or divisive political views.
DON'T spread misinformation: Never post or endorse defamatory, false, or misleading information.
DON'T disparage others: Do not post content that disparages the NASC, other members, or the wider scaffolding industry.
DON'T leak protected information: Disclosing commercially sensitive or confidential information, or breaching data protection and copyright laws, is strictly forbidden.
Accountability and Consequences
As a member organization, KAS Scaffolding is responsible for ensuring that all our employees, representatives, and subcontractors comply with this policy.
It is important to know that the NASC actively reviews public content and social media channels—including personal accounts used for business purposes—to ensure their standards are being met. Breaching these rules carries real consequences for our business. Depending on the severity, actions taken by the NASC can range from informal warnings to the temporary suspension of member privileges. Repeated or severe breaches, such as publishing hate speech, can result in permanent expulsion from the NASC.
By keeping our online communication open, respectful, and positive, we can help highlight the safety, innovation, and inclusivity of our trade. Let’s ensure our digital presence is just as strong and reliable as the scaffolds we build.
Adam Millgate, KAS Director Says: "This policy is a timely reminder that we all have a responsibility to raise the standard of what’s being shared. These practices should be adopted at all times, whether in the yard or on site, we are ALL representing the trade at all times. Use your platform responsibly, what you post can influence lives, not just likes"
