KAS Scaffolding Ltd was appointed by Barnes Construction to deliver a scaffolding package for the extension and conversion of the Premier Inn located at Eastern Esplanade, Southend-on-Sea.

KAS was tasked with supplying, erecting, and dismantling access structures in strict accordance with the project's requirements, which was a Timber Frame Build. KAS produced a comprehensive Design Brief with the help of Scaffplan and AXS Scaffold Design.

Executing a commercial hotel extension in a busy location introduced notable logistical hurdles.

The nature of the Timber Frame Build and the tight programme, as well as small logistical space for erecting Scaffolding meant KAS Scaffolding had to carefully navigate specific site constraints while strictly adhering NASC and Design Guidance. Furthermore, the project required strict compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022, mandating robust designer competency and rigorous safety standards.

Compliant Execution and Autonomous Site Management

To successfully mitigate the substantial daily delay risks, KAS Scaffolding executed the scaffold register requirements with precision, taking full responsibility for the design and implementation of all related temporary works.

To streamline site operations and prevent bottlenecks, the KAS team managed all material hoisting, horizontal distribution to the point of fixing.

By submitting comprehensive risk assessments, method statements, and training certifications at least two weeks prior to commencement, KAS ensured absolute compliance with Barnes Construction's ISO 9001 quality assurance policies, facilitating a safe, compliant, and uninterrupted build.

I had KAS Scaffolding on a project that consisted of 22no Apartments and a commercial unit.

Before, during and after scaffolding works KAS were always easy to work with.

Works were undertaken smoothly and efficiently with attention to detail i.e. clipping all Scaff boards, aesthetically pleasing scaffold, labour well presented with critical dates always met.
