KAS Scaffolding Limited was appointed to deliver a complex access scaffolding package at the Navigator Terminals site.
The comprehensive scope of works required the installation of Designed System (Layher) Scaffold Structures to 12 piers. Utilising advanced Layher System Scaffolding, the project necessitated a robust, highly engineered solution to provide safe and reliable access over water.
The primary operational challenge at Navigator Terminals was the requirement to construct safe, stable scaffolding directly over water to access the 12 marine piers.
Working in a demanding marine environment introduces significant logistical hurdles, including complex material handling over open water and strict environmental containment. Furthermore, the project was governed by a tight programme of works starting in September 2022.
This dictated that the complex Layher systems had to be deployed flawlessly and at pace, as any delays in erecting the over-water structures would heavily impact VolkerLaser's broader construction operations.
To overcome the complexities of the marine environment, KAS Scaffolding implemented a bespoke engineering solution specifically tailored for over-water access.
The deployment of Layher System Scaffolding was critical to this success, offering superior structural integrity, rapid assembly capabilities, and the adaptability required to navigate the 12 piers safely and efficiently.
By working to the exact specifications and design drawings formally incorporated into the sub-contract, KAS ensured that the demanding project deadlines were achieved. This highly engineered approach provided VolkerLaser with a compliant, safe working platform, delivered on time despite the highly challenging over-water conditions.
